The last time we saw JL Tate aka “Tater”, he was bidding his friends Ben and Patty Anne Blue goodbye to become a Texas Ranger. A short time later we find him up to his chin in the embrace of a lovely lady outlaw. He’s able to get himself untangle, only to come face to face with nearly a half ton of stolen Civil War gold, which the great State of Texas has placed a claim on.
JL and his Ranger partner, Spade Carson, become involved with the gang seeking to recover the gold and a rival gang seeking to take it, by whatever means necessary. A sweet young lass is right in the middle of the fray, and Tate is of course, in no way immune to the charms of Eve.
From Odessa to El Paso, there is no safety for Tate and Carson. Ambushes, night raids, and lust for the yellow gold, keep the two Rangers living on the raw gritty edge. But they must keep going forward because there’s no going back.

The character (and he is) by the name of JL Tate seemed a lot like Cain who is an older gent in previous books by this author. Also, the book was written in the same tone as the books about Cain and his activities, consequently, any books about "JL Tate" will be an automatic purchase. I never write large reviews as I've read to many that took away the interest to read the book.Buy it and read it, you will enjoy it.

Needs spelling checked. Words such as led instead of lead and rifle but instead of rifle butt.. More spelling errors too.
I like everything about the story-line.......the old saying is "don't judge a book by the cover" is true in this case. To me it looks like a kinder garden student drew the picture, (no offence meant ) I'd recommend this book to those who prefer the main character not being a "hero".
This story made me get a Texas map to check out the locations.
Geological descriptions, action, a hint of romance, gentleman behavior, and a few surprises & there you have it. ☺
Good description of what old western deputy had to put up with and things they had to put up with on some of their trip. Other one had to read to the very end before put bown
I gave the book a three because I kept expecting something else to come around the corner, yet it never happened. Bob was an unexpected surprise. I would recommend the book to all ages. However, for real die hard western fans, it fell flat.
I really like Bradshaw`S style. This book, like all the others was really good reading. I will probably read all of Lou Bradshaw`S books.
JL Tate, Texas Ranger, is another exciting book by Lou Bradshaw. This Texas Ranger does not back away from danger when there is a job to be done. If ever I was in danger, I would like Tater to be on my trail. Another great character to look forward to from Lou!
